This is one of those instances where slow and steady wins the race. Short mods are easy to play through somewhat quickly and make a comment on. More lengthy mods, however, require more time investment for the player, and require them to take more time writing a post. That thread you mentioned had quick ignition, but will wither away very soon. Your thread will attract more quality posts (and already has), and it will last longer in the long run.
If the people don't come to you, you have to go to the people :O
