Cave Story was released more than 10 years ago. Will there still be a modding scene 10 years from now? Who knows. When I released my function list, I thought people could make use of it. Though now it seems no one is sufficiently skilled and/or motivated. When I released my Ikachan preview, I thought maybe someone would offer to help me with it, but that didn't really happen. Tell me to make a first step? I already did, and nothing of note transpired. That's all fine. Those who feel genuine inspiration toward Cave Story, something I cannot claim to have, should do more to inspire others. Why bring morality into something that doesn't hurt anyone?

The modding scene is much different now than it was when you joined. Just present again, limiting yourself to only the forums won't help, however. Discord's where the greater activity is happening

The modding scene has changed, there are fewer talented people. And Discord is a joke.

We're trying to give you solutions, steps foward or at the least explanations, you need to understand; we're a smaller community with less resources and manpower compared to say the minecraft community. If you feel us 1 man teams aren't doing our best or feel we're not making fast enough releases then I suggest you take your work elsewhere.

What do you mean by fewer modders? We have a LOT of talented modders:

No. We have more resources - Cave Story is an x86 Windows application that largely utilizes standard file types. There are a lot of tools and documentation out there which would be useful. Some of the most popular Minecraft mods were not created by teams. The difference is that they were willing to put more time in. I would suggest you take your work elsewhere, and find something where your effort is more fruitful.

We have a lot of people with over-inflated egos. That's no substitute for talent.

I'd say for you to show those "people with over inflated egos" what modding is supposed to be in your own eyes, but yours doesn't look any different enough to actually do the thing you seem to give a damn so much about. I'm done trying to help you, good luck with whatever you do.

GIRakaCHEEZER's WTF Story? I would think eclipses the work of all of the modders you listed. Now, is GIR still actively modding? No. What modding is supposed to be in my eyes... well I like people who actually consider language. Because Cave Story wasn't originally in English, it was Japanese. So if someone actually takes the time to make a mod in multiple languages, or a mod that doesn't even have text, or even just a mod that isn't so utterly overtly western... I appreciate it. And to also make changes to the underlying code... that really takes skill.

Now to just download the pre-patched English translation, grab some public ASM edits, throw together a few maps and call it a mod... that doesn't take much skill or time, yet you would have us think otherwise.

And you can hardly tell me anyone here actively modding is genuinely skilled at ASM when I have seen far more complex edits by people in much smaller communities than the Cave Story modding scene.

So basically mods like Jenka's Nightmare, Ethology, Rave Story, Carnage Clash, Schism; apparently those aren't passionate mods to you?

I was just joking in the start and if I was more serious about modding, I would put something decent out. But for now I'm just watching and waiting, and I want to defend my viewpoint if people aren't being objective in their statements on existing mods.

80% of the activity of the forums essentially moved to 2 discord groups, one of them pretty much being 50% ASM discussion that has your function list pinned at the very top of a dedicated resources channel, no fucking wonder nothing is happening from your POV.

Put that ego down and get with the times, or have the time of your life being in a more fufilling hacking community. I reccomend you take one of those, it will feel better than sulking.

(Also WTF story was a awkward western-heavy fangame. It's great because it's long and ambitious, not the content itself.)
