Please stop embedding files/images from Discord. Discord has anti-hotlinking logic in place that breaks links to Discord hosted files and images when linked to from anywhere outside of Discord. There are a multitude of file/image hosting sites you can use instead.

Bombchu_Link did a little bit of lighting in his "Sue's Story" Mod (specifically the Mushroom Cavern), in which a hack was applied to have an infinite amount of player sprites, allowing him to darken/lighten the player depending on the distance from a light (instead of your method of having transparent holes on a black foreground tile).
But the aspect of shooting out the lights is pretty neat. I personally wouldn't mind a mod that has more dynamic light control tested out.
