Apparently, today is very special in two ways.

Firstly, I got a Skype.

Secondly...I got an Ipad! Sort ofish. You see, I've been going to an art class recently...somewhat against my will at first, but I've taken a liking to it...especially when I realised I'm not as bad at art as I thought. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

The fact that vectors make everything look pretty and clean help too, of course. ^_^;

The course gives all who signed up an Ipad to be used in the class for drawing, but you can fill out forms and such to take it out of the class.

I finally got around to doing them...so basically I now have a temporary Ipad I get to keep until the end of the class. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/chin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':chin:' />

Yup, today's a special day. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

That's awesome.

what kind of art are you doing?

Pff. You call my chicken scratch art? <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':p' />

Seriously, though, mostly I've been doing my assignments in the course. It's very basic stuff, drawing existing pictures in your own style and whatnot. It's the beginning of the course, after all. However, on the side I've been doodling TAKE A GUESS as practice. I'm not so bad, surprising since this is my first tries, but it's very simple and I've only done the head. I think trying to find a way to easily do eyes is key here, since I'm used to the simple vertical lines I've used all my life. Still, sometimes simple is good...right?

Anyway, today we made pseudo-graffiti as a side project. Most others did boring things like names and generic anarchy words, so I went with the concept of "polite graffiti" and did Grace. It turned out a bunch better than I thought it would, and I'm going to work on it some more by my lonesome. I might even share some of the stuff I've made with the forums. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

That sounds like a great opportunity... I'd love to see the results! <del class='bbc'>Maybe you could do "Polaris" in that style..!</del> Don't let up ;D

btw How does it work on the ipad? Is there a special stylus pen or something? What program are you using?
I'm curious, there's an ipad in the house and an artist... xD

Thank you, X! ^_^

(Strangely, IPBoard didn't tell me you replied...)

I'm just using a standard stylus, and the apps I'm using are Sketchbook Express, Adobe Ideas, Photoshop Express and Snapseed. However, I only really use Adobe Ideas for its lovely brush, and I'm looking for other art apps. :3

You CAN use fancy styluses that cost a fair bit that will let you use pressure-sensitivity in some art apps, but I'm a beginning drawer so it's not necessary.

<del class='bbc'>Do you mean the bubble letters thing when you say "Polaris"? I'll try it. c:</del>

Hmmmm~
I should check out Adobe Ideas, hadn't even heard of that product before... I bet making art is a lot more fun using a stylus + touchscreen, instead of always awkwardly drawing with the mouse!
Maybe for the holidays~ Pressure sensitive would be neat... Though some reason I'm having flashbacks to that pressure-sensitive electric piano I got, and barely used ;-;

Need to devote more creative time!

<del class='bbc'>And bubble graffiti "Polaris" would make a cool signature maybe ;D</del>

LASTLY : On topic... kinda...
<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote' ><p>polaris-w-: Hey, sudden question. Does X-Calibar ever actually get on?
JonSpider: I know he gets on
JonSpider: I check my Steam Friends list
polaris-w-: I mean, does he post here?
dunc2403: No
JonSpider: Not a lot. At least not now
polaris-w-: So he did in the past, then.
dunc2403: Did he?
JonSpider: Yeah, when I invited him over
polaris-w-: Which was millions of seconds ago, right?
JonSpider: Yeah, about
dunc2403: 1 million seconds is ~11.5 days
polaris-w-: *millionS
dunc2403: Millions would have to be at least twice that
dunc2403: Which means about 23 days
dunc2403: Has the group even existed that long?
polaris-w-: Millions just means it's measured in millions, Dunc.
JonSpider: August 31st
</p></blockquote>I try to leave it on, and even lurk for a minute occasionally, but so far I've only said two things I think... lol
(just ran a search of the log to see if anyone invoked my name for some reason D:, you did xD)

I'm usually pretty hesitant when speaking to a group at once. Thus, why I never went to IRC; despite setting it up to automatically log on; but never did log in lol

I seem to naturally avoid groups/teams/chatrooms/people, etc; I find it easier to go my own way, moreso than attempting to connect to many at once. And as for talking outloud? That's worse.

Wasn't always like this of course, but I guess maybe I let random dumb childhood experiences teach me stuff like, "it's better to figure it out on your own, rather than to risk asking a question and looking dumb" and "let others assume, rather than show weakness", or "you get praised for keeping quiet, and get in trouble by running your mouth"; or an event like "try to make a friend, and get torn down utterly", I guess I never confronted bad ideas like that and just let them fester in the background D:
That was too much information, but offers unneeded insight to the curious at the lack of group messages.

Hm, I see.

Believe it or not, but I naturally have a fear of going to groups, too. I'm always afraid of being a third wheel or annoying someone, so I'd inevitably end up in a corner somewhere, or I'd sneak away and find a back path or something. Sometimes you could almost say I was somewhat of a loner, though I was always cordial enough to everyone.

Getting over this was maybe part of the reason for joining this forum in the first place, though I doubt it. Still, I've found it gets easier with time, a bit. c:

But, anyway. No one will mind if you don't participate in groups much, so don't worry. It's your decision. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

By the way, here's the "Grace" image! <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

This is just one version, I have another I'll upload sometime later.

Wow! That's pretty awesome looking imo O_O
First impression : 10/10 O_O

Mmmm after staring at it; it does feel a bit slanted more as it goes? Still very cool.
Elegant but untamed?

And @ previous...
You're a great fourm member and always appreciate your thoughts/contributions~ Am glad that you broke through that barrier and are here~ <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

...It's strange to acknowledge that people can feel the same reluctance. Logic tells me how silly it is, to hold back on simple things like joining in on a conversation when you want to say something. I suppose I let the right brain do too much decision making (or lack thereof lol).

Thanks for sharing... I'll see about jumping in on the chat sometime ;D

Thank you! ~^_^~

The lilting was a bit intentional. I'm not one to be boring and orderly. >:3

Again, thanks. I think pretty much everyone feels the same way about you, and probably to a greater extent. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

It is a bit strange, huh? I guess we just have to remember that people have more in common with us than we think...

No prob. I hope to see you sometime! <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Oh, and while I'm at it...

Here's the second version of Grace!
