It's still a bit strange to me that Gardevoir is almost more well-known as a Fairy than a Psychic nowadays, just as it's strange to me how much more in-demand the shiny version is thanks to Mega Evolutions. As far as STAB goes, my trusty old Psychic actually kind of pales compared to Moonblast - which is stronger, hits more stuff super effectively and sounds cooler. Psyshock is a rather neat alternative to Psychic that helps with specially defensive Pokémon, too.
So...I don't know, I still like the traditional Psychic side myself, but it's no longer /the/ way to do things. Comes with the territory of any retyping, I suppose.
