Wrong puppy / start all over?

So, I've picked up the running puppy as I couldn't pick up the one in the room(Since I forgot to talk with the last kid), and now I can't progress in the game.

Does any one know a way to drop the puppy, or something?

As much as I really enjoyed playing the game, I'm eager to play more, not to repeat it.. Any suggestions?
