Why does Misery become taller?

In the credits, near the end when she's standing on the balcony. Is it me or is she greater in height than she originally was?

She is.

Couple of theories:

1) It's just that she's using a "NPC human" model instead of an "enemy" model. Or something.

2) Her curse made her look small for some reason.

3) Getting puffed up by the Doctor didn't entirely wear off.

 

my vote's for #3 with the caveat that #2 would have a kind of Size Is Power thing going on.

debunked. As you can see, credits Misery is taller than in-game Misery.

I never thought it was supposed to be taken literally. I always believed it was just Pixel's style, or to make her last scene seem better.

Misery is not simply taller, but she is older - she grew up - the screenshot from the credits is years after the events of Cave Story. Pixel is showing us she is grown up to be a young lady, living her life, free from the curse. It is touching how she looks at the camera (you) at the end.

My only issue is that this must mean Misery was like 12-18 during the regular game...
Unless you pull the "magical slow aging" card, in which case she had at least the appearance of one younger than Kazuma.

The worst it gets are the panties and lipstick, which are mere items and suggest nothing directly. Everything else is, as Pixel says several times himself, left up to the mind of the players.
Anything found sexual would be due to how we interpret the game.

Others get along fine without a single thought as those. {I, for one} It's merely your frame of thought.
Don't be so quick to assume others come to the same conclusion as you.
Of course, unless it's other forum members, hence the Fix. Joke, by the way.
I've never come across such theories as those that flood the theory section until coming to these forums {And even then, they weren't so rampant until several months later}, no one I know who's played the game has ever had such trains of thoughts. {Again, baring the forums}
I'm not saying what's right or what's wrong, but as Pixel said, it's all up to our own minds. You can imagine Cave Story as a game with dozens of barely hidden suggestive themes, and others will see it otherwise. {Thus, you honestly can't call it as 'the nature of the game'}

This is what I get for multitasking...
I just sort of thought the Tall Misery bit as Cinematic, and the small one being for interaction, the actual gameplay.
As in, the Tall one is for looks only, like ending artwork.
Just how I think of it.

 

VM_L, you must admit that the scene with Chaco, where you sleep in the same bed and get her lipstick, is suggestive.

Now, I think trickybilly's likely right about Misery.

As for why she gets taller, I hypothesize that she is standing closer to the camera during that final shot
