Where was Cave Story first released?

I'm curious as to what site Cave Story was first released on. The only sites I know of where you can download the game currently are the tribute site and Pixel's site studiopixel.jp. I went on the Wayback Machine and looked up studiopixel.jp but the earliest snapshot is from 2011, so I'm guessing Pixel released it on a different site initially.

 

The old link to Pixel's website should be in the readme. I know the first part of it was hp.vector.co.jp. And between that and the current domain, it was transitioned to studiopixel.sakura.ne.jp.
