What is the history of the Cthulhu and did they originate from the island?

where did the Cthulhu Truly come from did they come to the the island or already live there what is the history of the Cthulhus origin linked to the island?

 

Their origins certainly are mysterious, not much is really revealed. The most I can really say is that the credits of Cave Story refer to them at the "Mysterious native inhabitants of the island." As for how old they are and what magic they might posses, that is unknown as well. I guess it's one of those things Pixel left for the player to decide.

 

My theory is that they are the remnants of the humans from ten years ago.

Jenka said that Mimigas were killed in addition to any humans that tried to protect them. This gives the impression that there were other humans besides those that were killed.

 

and then i guess those humans from 10 years a go took refuge on the island as Cthulhu hiding from the rabid Mimigas ?
