This is something I've been wondering about for thousands of years. There isn't much to say about this idea. You'd edit an entity's hitbox to be similar to that of a tile. For example if you made a thin platform or pole.

Does this really need a new thread..?
Anyway, there are a couple of minor issues with the idea, such as bullet collisions will look funny and there are some collision problems, but in a pinch you could make it work, yeah.

The biggest problem would have to be that only the player and bullets would hit the entity-floor, since entities don't do collision checks with eachother.

So if you used it as a thin platform, entities would fall through said platform.

of course, that could be fixed with ASM. dunno how hard the fix would be tho.

it would be a very large hack and it would also possibly make the game run slower due to all the extra checks needed

Well, either way, this would mostly just serve an aesthetic purpose. It wouldn't be wise to risk it with maps that have enemies and such in them.
