Unresponsive gamepad

I just downloaded cave story for windows and while in gamepad mode i have to press the button quite hard for them to react. This makes platforming ... difficult. (I died twice to the first spike ;) ) any ideas on what might be causing it? (Win 7 64-bit BTW)

Is the gamepad damaged? did it ever fall? was it fixed recently? have you tested it with other games?

If you have to press the buttons hard to get a response, then it is the controller to blame.

(hopes this isnt a double post) i doubt this but it may be that you're computer is old to the point it lags and by the time you apply force mr. traveler (to avoid spoilers) acts.

Oh... other games affected too must have been recent damage. guess that explains it. time to reassign all my buttons onto the shoulders that work.
