Spin Off From Cave Story?

I forgot how I found this, but on http://doukutsu.rdy.jp/upload.cgi, a "Cave Story Uploader," there was this download named Spin Off From Cave Story.

In the game, you play as Curly. She wakes up before Quote does in the Start Point. You're playing in Curly's point of view and you find out what she was doing while you were playing as Quote. The game ends when she ends up in the "best ending" area.

The problem is that the game is in Japanese, so it's hard to understand. But I found some walkthrough videos on other websites and I beat the game.

It's probably twice harder than the original Cave Story, though.

Has anyone else seen or played this game before?

Whoa hey, Iron Bond! Thank for uploading this, I lost my copy, and Jackalope's upload has been gone for some time. Although since when did it get renamed to "Spin Off"? And I don't remember encountering Misery in the Waterway and fighting Balfrog there, but I did only play Iron Bond through once, so my memory of it isn't perfect.

So you were able to find a guide for this, you say? Do tell, because apparently when Booster meets me by the rocket I'm supposed to get a Booster or something (I don't quite remember), but I had to hack it in. What am I supposed to do? You seem to be implying that she gets to the best ending area, so it looks like you've gotten closer to getting the best ending than I. The ending that Duke Serkol and I got was

When Booster meets you by the rocket, you have to

go to Grasstown and examine the broken pink motor bike for a Booster. Then, you give it to him and he'll fix the rocket.

For the ending, the only way to get the best ending is to

not fall off the island. So after the final blow of Monster X, you have to somehow land on the small piece of flooring near the right side of the battle area.

 

Interesting... Let's see, my memory of Iron Bond is a bit fuzzy. I remember getting up to the top of the Last Cave, and then the earthquake, and then getting blocked from being able to enter the Balcony, but I don't remember travelling backwards through what has now transformed into the hidden last cave, and going out into the Plantation to see Jenka's puppy run into the storehouse. So I went there, followed the camera down the outer wall, and I didn't know what I was supposed to do at the bottom. So I reset, and this time entered the clock room as I was going down with the camera, but it looked like that broke the sequence. Where did you find this walk-through?

 

It seems like that Last Cave also has different results... Did you have the Nemesis? When I played through, if you didn't have the Nemesis, you can't battle the Blue Demon after the quake and proceed to battle Monster X. If you had the Nemesis after the quake, then when you pass by the place where Quote battled the Red Demon, you would battle the Blue Demon. After you beat it, the door that leads to Monster X would appear.

For the walk-throughs, I searched up the original name of the mod in Japanese on the Japanese Google, and I looked in the video section to find videos of the game.

 

That's odd... You can find the Nemesis? How? I tried hacking it in, but nothing different happened for me. I still saw the Red Demon's stone statue and didn't battle any Blue Demon. Could you give me a link to this video walkthrough you found?

Talk to the Little Man that lives in the Outer Wall, and answer yes(?) to his question. (I wasn't sure if you were supposed to answer no or yes, so i just talked to him two times and chose both answers). Then, go back to the destroyed Egg Corridor and find the room where Quote battled the Sisters. Under the elevator lift there should be two spaces that are shining as if there were two items there. When you land there, the floor drops and you have to battle a boss. After that, you can get the Nemesis there.
