Prequel mod idea

I was thinking about a backstory mod that followed the robots that attacked the core a decade before the events of Cave Story. I will probably need some help because I am a shitty modder who lacks the self esteem or perserverence to actually work on this I mean, new to modding

ok haha uh I have a big tip for you:
most of the people on these forums probably won't help. not that they're non-helpful but because they have little to no belief that this will be a success
I suggest to just look through a guide/tutorial on modding and do it on your own.

Second off, a LOT of people have done prequels and sequels and even pre-sequels. None of them (at least to my knowledge) have been finished. I think the same about this mod.

I dunno, just, the key rule of these forums is "make mods yourself" (besides the more obvious rules) and that rule applies literally everywhere here. So, make the mod yourself. You'll probably like it more.

Well, the only way to become unshitty at mods (or become not new at them) is to tough it out.

Also, if you end up running into any errors or such problems while modding, there's a thread dedicated to answering those questions, found here.

If you're bad at modding, then the best way to become not-bad at modding is to build several small projects based on smaller ideas. None of these have to be finished, but each of them should be its own step in the process: "Do I know how to build a level?" "Do I know how to script?" "Can I make custom graphics?" "Can I write a story?"


That last one is imperative. Can you write a story? Can you write something that has a beginning (establishing setting and characters), a middle (shit happens, challenges occur, goals start to take form), and an ending (what the final boss will be, why it's the final boss, and very importantly, how will the previous steps wrap themselves up)?


In any case, we had a "modding idea" forum, and it was closed because it was full of topics like this. "Hey I have an idea *leaves the forum, never comes back*" is a dubious norm when nobody's dedicated.

Ideas and Development was closed for a reason. There's plenty of information on how to get started available already.
