Possible Bug? Or I missed something...

So I've completed the game a few times, and I decided to run through and get every item: I'd missed Curly's Underwear and the Alien Badge the previous runs.
I went through the modified final cave, and beat the red golem guy.
After I finished off The Doctor and friends, I couldn't get into the hut that leads to Hell. I didn't know it was possible to go through the modified final cave and not qualify for Hell. Is there something I missed?
I was finally ready to start speed runs, too.

 

Maybe you didn't cure Curly?

i didn't say i did. i just meant that this thread is pointless. Gifts could have used a walkthrough rather than do this.

 

You need Iron Bond + Booster 2.0.

 

As stated above, you missed the Iron Bond.

HOWEVER

You can still get it on the save you currently have. You just have to go through the final cave backwards, down to the plantation, talk to Curly to get the iron bond (if you restored her memory, which I hope you did) then go back throgh the final cave AGAIN.

If you're too lazy to do that, you could get one of the Profiles in the Downloads tab on www.cavestory.org, which almost always have max items.

I did consult a walk through, but nonetheless missed getting the iron band. I think it's easier to miss something because it worked last time, so I just assumed I'd gotten those things.
