A short-ish mod featuring 3 main levels as you travel to take back your pancakes!

Made for CSMC Modgala '24.

Spoiler: Tips from the readme

Notice:
Each level features two or three upgrades, and can only be played once;
• All three stages include pancakes as reward, go home to enjoy them and gain max health!
• All three stages include a hidden miscellaneous upgrade, be sure to hunt for them.
• The Caves of Corruption and Salt Fleet include life capsule, collect them for extra max health!

Make sure to talk to the villagers, they may be able to help you.

King needs a <KEY on his repeat dialogue, there's probably a cleaner way to do the <FON reload snapback and I can't figure out how to get past the bat-spawning room

The bat-spawning room is a lost woods-esque puzzle, using the note in the room before as a hint.
The purpose of this room is to reach the level's bonus item, once you got it you have to go back. ( Go back to where the screenwrap actually warps you back closer to the start, and head right. )
That said, there was a major oversight related to that room where you can get trapped. This was fixed in version 0.9.9.96 (And its things like this why i was hesistant to really call it 1.0 yet, the mod IS complete otherwise and should be beatable in it's current state)

 

Okay, as a playtester, I'd like to claim responsibility that I've playtested the first two stages. Yeah, I know, how tragic, I had to work last weekend, and my work hours are close to when Mint's done for the day. I got the test builds on me (and the latest version at the bottom), so um, yeah. Guess I should play. Btw Mint, I'll very likely not cover the parts you've already gotten seen me play, unless something comes up.

No death event in here, already reported it in Discord. Also yes, "bread".

Now, my Snake is already at Level 3, so it only make sense that I try leveling the drink, but um, I'd rather not.

Thank you for this, this used to be a gotcha moment.

Rip puzzle, you can still do it but, this defeats it by so much...

So not only is there a debug leftover, but also the puzzle still isn't fixed if you do the terminals out of order after getting the life capsule!

Now for the second stage, which I last left off on because it was literally unbeatable at the time.

Well that was easy, glad to see the moving platform section was fixed.

Can I legally get toxic over this section? I feel like I need to bring back the old me. I've died so many times to this.

I feel like the h/v trigger could've been placed much sooner after the autoscrolling stops...

...That's it? That's the boss battle? That was just a bunch of cheap <CMP events! (What a rip...) SPONGEBOB BETRAYED US!

Not to criticize it too much but, yeahhhhh replayability and more visual cues/hints could be a godsend, especially when there's sidequests/hunts for bonuses that are done. It's just unfair that I won't be able to give the salt to Chako.

Alright, and time for the third stage, which I have never played, and apparently it's in a higher quality compared to the other two stages, so.

Btw, this isn't much of a criticism, but you could really go with custom orgs for this mod. Geothermal doesn't really suit the area, imo...

I know it's just Cave Story physics, but I feel like there could've been a way to still visually show you're in a wraparound stage, even through vanilla means.

Uhhhhhh, you've already heard most of my criticisms in discord, but there's probably some feedback here that you'll probably take interest as well, soooooo, yeah.

Well I see I've left my testing tiles here yet again while forgetting to remove them. I know what im fixing tonight.

I mean uhhhh there's no tiles that allow you to do these sections more easily, pretend theyre not there and that if you do fail at a platforming section that you most certainly DID fall.
