Programming question incoming...

Does anyone have any idea what type of sleep-style function Pixel used for timing in his ORG playing (in order to time when the notes are played)? I'm trying to program something similar, but I can't find a C function that can pause a thread perfectly. I'd love to know exactly how he did it or what he used. Thanks!
