New to hacking, need tutorial.

I just recently began using sue's workshop. I can make very simple maps (bare of script) I honestly have no idea how to script ,add npcs, add items or basically do anything useful and despite my efforts I can not find a tutorial for such things. Does anyone know where I can find an expansive tutorial that provides all the things I need to create a decent cave story mod/hack?

The TSC notes show what TSC script does. It probably best to look at some of Pixel's code to see how things work. The Sprite Numbers/NPC.ini guide isn't there for some reason (look here instead), but that will tell you what each entity is and what they do. Items are given using TSC script. There's not really any straight-up tutorial anywhere but it's not that complicated once you get your head around it.

A lot of people seem to be asking really simple questions that can be easily answered like things involving script, pbm editing and such. I think I'll take the initiative of making just 1 page with everything you need involving Script commands, pbm editing and music and sound replacement. I only just thought I'd actually go through with it now so I better get started.
