Lost my Booster v0.8

In the plantation zone, after the mother builds the rocket. You should have talked with her before getting into the rocket so she can give you back the Booster v0.8 but I missed that part and already saved in the Final Cave and theres no way to go back.
Now its realy hard to continue without this item. Is there anything I can do to recover the Booser v0.8?

 

Jump down right through the center and pray the Presses don't kill you?

 

Yeah you can jump down and the presses won't actually kill you if position yourself right in the middle.

 

I was actually afraid of that happening when I first played the game
so out of habit I always save in Momorin's lair instead
of next to the Last Cave.

I mean, if you see a save disk, and there are just tons of presses below
you, you're probably going to wonder... "can I get out if I save here?"

Holding the down button doesn't make you fall any faster. You just need to jump dead center.

That is like the only time ever you can look down while falling for a while, no person in their right mind would waste that opportunity.

 

I'm pretty sure that someone has said something about this in another thread, but since it seems relevant here I figured I'd pipe in another fun fact (which I'm sure many folks here already know).

While the last cave is tricky without the booster, it's not impossible. If you make it through the end of the cave and beat the rest of the game with the mimiga mask on, you get ever-so slightly modified dialogue from when you beat the game with either Booster 0.8 or 2.0. Also, you will still be wearing the mask in the end credits. It's not a huge deal, but if you (like I) want to get as many nuggets of detail out of the game as possible, it could still be worth toughing it out through the last cave with the mimiga mask. Because Pixel thought of everything.

 

If you have the machine gun you should be able to aim and shoot straight up to get back to the bottom. I did this multiple times, though I only tested it on Cave Story+ on the PC, so I dunno if it works on any other versions.

There is a maximum downward falling speed (terminal velocity).

Holding the down button will make you go faster. Perhaps. Maybe not.

You can do that also when going down the outerwall, in fact you practically need to if you want to not fall off forever. Going down the outerwall is one of my favorite things to do, going up, not so much.

 

you got youself a problem.... V.8 is the booster that can only go up if im not mistaken... you WILL get the bad ending at the end of the game... i honestly think your done for

 

I think you're crazy and don't know what the difference between bad and normal endings are.
