Have you ever wanted to change the font of Rockfish or similar Pixel games, for whatever reason?
Differing from Cave Story, newer Pixel games, like Akantares, Rockfish and later ones uses an image file to render each character in-game. Knowing this, I've decided to test out some fonts from different games to see how they fit into the game.
Here're some I did in the mean time:
It's a nice option if you're looking for Courier New, or Times New Roman esque fonts.
Slightly tall font.
Italic styled font. A nice option if you're looking for a book-ish or caligraphy-like font.
Small, but versatile font. The english font was ripped from the localization prototype version.
Tiny, but bold font.
The japanese hiragana characters were drawn by me.
Goofy caligraphy esque font. I like how the japanese font also look like a child writing.
Square-ish, but very versatile font.
English font was ripped from the GBA port, while the japanese characters were ripped from the original Game Boy versions.
This one's from far the most complete font I've managed to rip. Very versatile.
Really tall font. How'd you use it is up to you.
Very tiny font. If you ever want to use very small characters for whatever reason, that's the choice for you.
Also, I find the japanese version really cute.
I've also did an attempt in drawing ocidental accent characters, to help with translations. Sadly, I don't know how to change the character encoding to make translations easier, but here's what I got so far.
In background, those accent characters're actually tiny Katakana characters.
The texts here are Pangrams of some languages, I used here to testing the characters in action.
If you ever want to showcase some customized fonts, here's a template I did:
And lastly, here's the download for the compilation I've shown above:
