I've been wondering this personally, and I've come to the conclusion that he's at very least a contender for Sigma Awards. Do you think so?

This thread probably belongs in the theories section.

Obviously, Quote does technically talk, even though his lines aren't shown due to Cave Story utilizing the "Silent Protagonist" trope, but that doesn't mean he's a chatterbox. That partially depends on how you play the game, but consistent with the "Sigma Male" trope, Quote doesn't really say much of anything except when the player has him talk to someone. We have no reason to suspect that he says more than what's needed when talking to other characters to progress the story.

I think that Quote's demeanor in the credit art illustrations gives us the best glimpse at his personality:

Others may have a different interpretation, but I always felt as if these images portray Quote having a fairly reserved, quiet, and straightforward personality, consistent with the sigma male trope.

In no possible world can Kazuma be considered based.
>Steals other peoples work
>runs away from his problems
>runs away from the island
kazuma is a sigma male

kazuma is a sigma male
running away from your problem isn't what a sigma male should ever do, they'll catch up and then kick your ass no matter how strong you are
also i have played cave story like 6 times and as far as i know kazuma does not steal other people's work and struggles to do his own (or maybe my monkey brain can only understand what is directly told to me and cannot infer anything, which if i were to be entirely honest, i would think that just being dumb is more likely than you being entirely wrong with kazuma being a thief)

actually now that i think about it any character could be considered a sigma male if you stretch it far enough

>genocide a whole species of bunnies
>forget about it
>steal guns without a license
>genocide critters because they wanted to jump on you
>nonchalantly ignore the issues of the bunnies (meemaygah?) and even shoot one
>go grave-robbing
>kill shit because you have schizophrenia about exploding doritos
>sleep with a bunny and never see her ever again
>shoot some kids and their "mother"
>delay the rescue of some random bunny or two and then kill the one you shot anyway because you wanted to go collect some dogs
>obtain drugs
>don't protect your comrades, a real man makes others give him their only life support
>leave said comrades behind
>start posing as a bunny to lie and decieve
>encourage eating the people that youve defeated in battle
>get on a rocket while still looking like the bunny, refuses to elaborate
>kills a bunch of people and causes a massive sky island to fall (meteorite)
>kills another old grandpa (uses a comrade as a meatshield with rope)
>stops the makeshift meteorite
>leaves

Not true. Curly confirms that she and Quote were sent to destroy the demon crown. It's unreasonable to assume that they took part in killing Mimigas.

I just thought of something the other day. In the best ending, when Balrog asks Quote and Curly where they want to go, Curly jumps in and says where she wants to go. Quote probably has some level of attachment to the Sakamotos, but is too quiet to speak up, hence why he doesn't say anything when Curly inadvertently causes Quote to abandon the friends he's been fighting to help the entire game. If Quote weren't a sigma male, he would have said something.
