Is it possible to ignore a thread?

In other words, if somebody bumps a thread, you (and only you) will not see the
thread showcased on the main page.

Instead you must navigate to that forum or subforum to see the thread at the top.

This might be useful for ignoring threads that you don't care about, or for
suppressing SPOT topics that are bumped very often.

Such a thing is possible with vB, unsure if IP is advance enough to have such a feature though.

I don't think we should be asking ourselves if we can do this, but WHY?

I have never understood why all this ignore stuff exists at all. If something is not interesting for me I won'r read it. Still you could ignore someone and miss out on some stuff you are interested in. Besides being exposed to things or people you do not like sharpens your skills, diplomacy, tolerance and compassion.

Strangely enough I kept looking in forums suggestions for things to add my 2 cents to, but every time I posted something this topic got bumped. I ignored it for a while but after a day I finally got annoyed enough to just read it.

Maybe an ignore button for these kind of topics would be nice.

While not many members would use it, it still seems worth adding if only for the novelty.

Yeah, when I want to ignore something I just ignore it. It isn't that hard to just not click the topic.

Ignore signature is useful because it lets you block someone's signature out if it's annoying in a way that doesn't break rules, takes up too much real estate on your screen, or always uses .gif's (and you're on a very slow connection)

Ignoring topics, not so much.
