• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

How to "manually adjust" the resolution for Cave Story using OBS

I was bothered by the inability to adjust the size of the Cave Story window, so I found a strange workaround solution to it.

All that is needed is OBS.

1. Open OBS and Cave Story. Set Cave Story to any windowed mode.
2. Start a new scene and window capture Cave Story.
3. Preview Stream.
4. Edit Scene and expand the Cave Story window to the size you prefer.
5. Right click the preview and Fullscreen Preview Mode.
6. Play the game while watching the preview.

I hope this helps!

The config application had an option to change window size, last I checked, but this way should be pretty convenient way to change the window size in-game. Thanks, and welcome!

Those options are essentially Game Boy Color and Samsung Galaxy.

This way allows you to determine the exact size you wish to play at.

The options are the native resolution, double that, and fullscreen. Why anyone would want to play on anything besides 640x480 is beyond me. It's big enough, and you don't have to stretch the screen, which is the worst in a game with pixel graphics.

if your eyes are that bad you know you can just change your whole display resolution, then /everything/ looks bigger, right

I found out about Cave Story through a Twitch Stream, which enlarged it to fit at least 3/4 of my monitor, and I liked the look of it.

I don't see a difference between big and small pixels, so I prefer big pixels, others may not.
