Help running the game

For some reason, Cave Story runs extremely slow when I try to play it. I thought it was maybe something with the intro, but when I'm in the game itself it still runs slowly. I'm sure my computer can handle this game, but I don't understand why it's running it so slowly.

Any help with this matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Some specs would help. What's your computer like?

This game also makes use of DirectX to render its graphics. Make sure your card can support DirectX (is there such a thing as a modern (ie post Y2k) card which doesn't support DirectX?) and update your drivers.

 

I updated my drivers and....that fixed the problem.

Ahhhh I feel like such an idiot now.
