Has anyone made a Giant Mod Pack for Cave Story?

Most Cave Story mods will either never be completed, and the ones that will most likely be shown off will be in development for a very long time.

A mod pack? As in a .zip file of a bunch of mods? Or is it like Cave Story's comment about some mods and their overwhelmingly long development times?

If it's the first one, we don't really have one set up, but this is the closest I've seen, and some of them are out-of-date already.
As for the second one... yeah. A good portion of mods are not completed, and are either dead or abandoned. But, a lot of them are pretty amazing, even though most are not completed (coughJenka'sNightmarebyShmitzcough).

If you are thinking a mod pack the same way one might be used in Minecraft, you have to keep in mind that most major mods are not really made to be compatible with others. A lot of the well known mods push the memory of Cave Story to its limits, and with the map limit of 95, there would be no way multiple mods could be used. They also may have specific stories, and trying to combine them in one game would result in an odd mishmash of various stories. If you are just thinking a bunch of mods stored together and able to be run independently, then it oughta work fine.

Problem one: Getting permission from mod creators.
Problem two: Most mods are unfinished.
Problem three: Um... I was going to put something here... Never mind.

I think the tribute site or these forums needs a better mod list than the one it has: some sort of moderated 'these are reasonable complete mods of the latest known version and we have tested them to make sure they're not crap/unstable'

We need a mechanism by which the outstanding mods will rise to the top like cream. At the moment, looking for a mod is like searching through a bag of lollies half-full of empty wrappers.

Andwhyisit does a wonderful job managing the Mac and PSP ports. But once again, there's no attempt at quality control. I guess it's difficult: how does one fairly decide which mods deserve to be elevated?

I once said that most Cave Story mods are poorly written. What I should have said is "Most Cave Story mods have poor punctuation, spelling, grammar, and formatting."

We already have one
And it's pretty solid, the only reason it hasn't been worked on in a while is because of Take 8.
There really aren't enough important finished mods to justify a master zip file IIRC.

It's an excellent list: DoubleThink's got pretty much EVERY mod I've ever looked for. Only a few days ago he helped me find that latest known version of Eternal Chaos. However, it's still a pick 'n' mix in regards to quality. Maybe he should try implimenting a ranking system... or something.
