Search button?

This has been asked several times before, have you tried any of these solutions?
I've read that Hardware Acceleration seems to be a big culprit, and I've had to disable it for some games before.

I actually have tried some of them and some of the options i cant find on my computer in control panel and how would i make the priority of the game on high? right clicking it doesnt seem to be able to set its priority neither are there any options to do so other than to change the controls or the size of the display window

Vista - XP

I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think it goes something like this:
Open the Task Manager with Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Go to Processes and find Cave Story. {Should be something like "Doukustsu.exe". It must be running, too}
Right click the name, and go to "Set Priority" {Or something similar}
Then set it to whatever you want it to be.
You'll have to do this everytime you start it up, I believe.

{I'm just dredging this up from memory, by the way}

Did you try turning off Hardware Acceleration? {It's mentioned in that other thread}
I've got a feeling that would help, at least a bit.

I should probably should go look up XP stuff

It might be different for you.
Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Speaker Settings - Advanced > Choose "Performance" tap > Set Hardware Acceleration to "None"
How far down this route did you get?

Low-mo

Normal? Lowest?
What was it set to originally? And can you even turn it off completely? {Because that's what's recommended}

Running out of ideas...

Well, what other solutions did they have...
Did you try running it in the various windowed modes?
Or did you make sure the Power Save {I doubt this is the problem} thing isn't on?

Sometimes you will have to close windows or programs. Whenever I have the steam window up, It runs slow until I close it.

I don't understand the big deal about lagging here, for me it only lags on the (particularly) epic parts. Is it possible to make a hack where Cave Story ALWAYS lags? I'd like to cheat on sacred grounds.

Well if you use fraps, it actually makes the game run at about 10 frames per second. So you could try that.
