<insert flow of discussion from CS: Hard Mode thread to the point where i said it would be cool to take out the cutscenes, and the reply to that post.>
i meant i was thinking about doing it. in fact, i'll start tomorrow, by documenting which flags need to be set at which events lol.

would it be preferable to leave the scenes in, but have an option at the start to skip them or not? or simply completely remove them?

EDIT: Mod temporarily dead as a side effect of me repeatedly dropping off the face of the earth relative to these forums.

Make it so all dialouge is skipped.
If people want the dialouge, they can play the original CS.

You don't really need to document the flags, you could just go and delete the <MSGwordswordswords out of each script, and all the other commands that are unnecessary.
That would take a while though.

Whatever, ... Nevermind, I guess I won't take the cutscenes out if anyone wants to do this, although I could release 2 versions too... hmmm...

yeah, but you can drop it into vanilla CS before you start modding levels/etc and you're cutscene free with the original storyline.

... i was thinking tho, the post-Core scene, how does that work?

It's what all the cool kids are calling Doukutsu with no changes. In which case, I guess mine would be triple chocolate carmel fudge rainbow sprinkle?

it's a habit i picked up in another hacking community, where the plain, untouched version of the game is referred to as the vanilla form.


progress is moving along at it's own damn speed. trying to figure out what to completely remove and the best way to deal with cutscenes that animate the entrance of a character (i.e. Prof. Booster (or anyone else) teleporting into Arthur's house (or anywhere else), esp. after the waterway, where Booster then walks into the middle of the room.)

aaaannnnddd.... welcome to snail pace progress. about three maps cleared of cutscenes, nothing tested yet tho. i need to find a motivation to mod more often. as is right now tho, i'm dead tired. i have a friday off school tomorrow, maybe i'll use that to get some work done.

EDIT: add more than a week, add no progress XD. i am working on something else tho. those in IRC at the time know what it is, and it's nearly done already. just testing and one potential problem to work with
