Cave Story Beta

How different was the story in it? I know of a few minor differences, but I was wondering if anyone knew what some major ones were.

 

By god I wish. Sadly, no. There already is a thread about the beta, but I'm not going to bitch at you about it because I don't see a reason why, and it's not going to solve anything.

Well, my theory would be that the story would be incredibly different from the Cave Story that we have now. Sue could have been some character that follows you around, Balrog (Originally named Puu..?) would be the main villain in the game, etc etc.
I can imagine that the beta would have these serene caverns containing large amounts of moving fog and tints of pure light. The small balrogs with wings would drift slowly across the atmospheres.... Idk

 

And Chie would have a larger role, maybe

 

It would be cool to make a mod based on Cave Story Beta's story.

That's right Lace. The Broxxus was going to be somewhat of a re-imagining replica of the beta Cavestory island. I completely forgot about my mods.
I love how people are going off saying that the things that weren't used like Wind Fortress in any mod yet, when Broxxus had it, and when a mod hasn't used any beta material, Broxxus has that as well.

 

Well I don't really pay any attention or play any mods so I guess that's why o_q

Mine had Wind Fortress....

 

The beta screen I found most interesting was the one that seemed to show an Dragon Quest-type RPG battle, with some sort of goblin enemy. How would that tie in, I wonder?
EDIT: The text at the top of said screenshot says "nobuyuki" (a name, maybe?) and "inu", meaning dog. Working on translating the dialogue or whatever it is.
EDIT 2: Not having much luck on the precise translation, but it's definitely an RPG-style battle, and neither Quote nor Curly Brace appears in the dialogue. Also, on the last line, Noboyuki says "Yarusaan!!", but I have no idea what that means.

 

I always figured that was some kind of one-off joke, like the Ame Dating Sim screenshot.

 

If it's a joke, it's remarkably in-depth.
