Can I use towrope in the core boss fight??

I'm fighting that under water boss dude I know the tow rope is there. (this is my first time doing a run getting it). As you may all know doing that fight without being able to fly is pretty much close to impossible. I can't seem to use the tow rope with Curly tho during the fight so what do i do??

some forum thing i read said the tow rope is used to attach you to curly so that you can fly via her gun.

personally I would try to tow rope her before fighting the core, so its not trying to shoot at you.

edit: tow rope her before she activates the robot
