So when I go to make/edit a post with images, if I save it/post it on the thread's inline editor (instead of going to "More Reply options"/the full editor), all my img tags break. Whyyyyyyyy?

Does it break when viewed in the editor or break after saving the post? Plus is this in BBCode mode or WYSIWYG mode?

1) After saving the post.

2) It's happened in both modes I think, but most recently it occured it plain mode (lights off mode?)

How does it break? Does it post the images as img tag html or post broken bbcode, or malform the url (maybe by turning the image's source into url bbcode)? An example of a malformed post would be quite useful.

This post should break.

E: I will be playing with it until it does.

EE: I can't get it to break. It happens sporadically/I'm not sure how to reproduce it.

So they simply disappear?

I can't figure it out and I'm sick of all these fast reply related issues, so the quote and edit buttons will now direct to the stable-er full editor.

And this is why I hate ajax, it is damn near impossible to debug.

Does anyone actually use the multi-quote feature? I'm thinking of ditching it so that I can make the fast reply box a plain text input, assuming I can of course.

I use it but I wouldn't miss it if it were gone

Well.. the inline editor is now the fast reply box and it runs entirely in plain text (BBCode) mode. The multi-quote works fine in conjunction with it so I see no reason why it can't stay.

It will probably be at least a week until new kids start asking how to use images and/or formatting. You've hoodwinked new users for generations to come.
They kind of deserve it for being so thick, though.

My understanding is that you don't need these things in a fast reply box anyway. But yes, I a steeling myself against the inevitable onslaught of "inlie editur dun work" posts.

And to be honest I know enough by this point that I can completely strip out the WYSIWYG editor entirely and replace it with a custom BBCode-only (fast reply box with buttons basically) solution. Not that I would as you can imagine what the response to that would be.

Dear god WYSIWYG is so terrible and I would love a pure bbcode quick reply box
That's just my opinion though. Honestly, it seems to me that new members won't miss what's not there.

The quick reply box was already pure BBCode, sans buttons of course. I was referring to the notion of ditching WYSIWYG in the full editor entirely. Reducing the editor into a plain text mode is easy enough and the script to insert BBCode after clicking on a button while in BBCode mode is custom code already.

Whenever I go to edit this post specifically, the img tags get all messed up. I haven't saved it being messed up, but I did preview it and you can see it here:

diph.php

This clearly isn't an issue with the inline editor and I have no clue what's causing it. The only way I can get it to happen right now is with this post specifically.

It happens in both firefox and IE 10 so I'm pretty sure it's not browser specific at this point.

I tried switching to the other editor to see if that would fix it, but the problem occurs both in the old editor and AndWhy's new BBCcode editor.

It's a bug that was fixed in a later version of IPB. I'll need to upgrade the forums.

Done. The forums are upgraded and the issue is fixed.
