Booster's Pants

Anybody else notice Booster's legs change between green & red depending on which way he's facing & also during his walk cycle? I just noticed this today while I'm repalying the game O.O

 

Also his bum is clearly exposed in his rear-facing sprite
It is unclear whether the professor is aware of this or not and whether or not everyone else is just too polite to point it out.

 

Oh right, he HAS different pants color. I remember noticing it for the first time a while ago.
I wonder why his sprites are different... Was it intentional?

 

Maybe Pixel colored each way he was facing differently & didn't notice? I don't know. Maybe Booster wears those multi colored pants with the different leggings.

No, those are his hands, as they are behind him.

But overall, booster has the most amazing flashing pants ever, if I had flashing pants like his, I would lock them up in a safe while asleep.

 

Seeing how the walk right animation sprites for Booster have green pants while the standing animation sprites have red pants, it's likely only an error on Pixel's part.

 

I think i know why the color is different on the sprites:
Kazuma has a white shirt, and dark red pants. Pixel made him before booster according to the npc numbers, so pixel probably made boosters sprites with dark red pants, but realized kazuma had the same clothes colors, so he changed them to green, but forgot to change the first 2 sprites on the bottom.

Booster points right, during the plantation. After completion of such, he points the other way. It stays like that for the rest of Cavestory...

It's more of an oversight than anything else...and there's still the whole "Jump over Chaco's House and in effect break the game" thing.

So...there's still only two harmless oversights in a game that came out in 2004 and has hardly received any updates.

You're really sequence breaking, getting to a point in the game when you shouldn't be. Chaco normally gets the jellies to appear, but by not talking to her, you can explore the rest of Bushlands without the Jellyfish Juice or the Fireball. You can't really get any further than Bushlands because you need the Jellyfish Juice to make the bomb.

 

I assume you could just get things to behave normally by going back & talking to Chaco? Or do you get stuck?

 

You can go back. It could be used after triggering the jellies to allow you to have juice when you first get to the east side, which could be a bit faster I guess?

 

But if you talk to MALCO about making the bomb you can't get the fireball and so you can't get Chaco to summon the Jellies, making the game unwinnable.

 

What's the tecchnique to get up there? Have any enemy bump you in midair or what?

 

Yeah, you've got to use the bats to bump yourself up. I'm pretty sure it's not possible in the Nicalis releases.

 

Well what do ya know, Nicalis actually fixed a bug instead of making one.
