Ban Policy Thread Proposal

Basically, add a thread about the ban policy (i.e. how many warning points it takes to get banned etc..)

If I recall correctly, the rules thread should have a subsection about bans and what constitutes as a warning / ban, etc. It oughta be pinned, you should start looking there

Isn't the New Forum Rules thread generally that?

 

If there isnt such a thread yet its kindaaaa a fair suggestion.
But don't assume you can just dick around as long as you're under a specific number.
Honestly do the moderators even use that here or do they just use it as some measure?

 

we have forum rules
at "some amount" of warning points a user will receive a temporary suspension, for 10 days or so
warning points expire after a few weeks
the rest is up to our discretion

 

Forum rules tl;dr: Don't act like a 12 year old, don't be a dick, don't spam, keep it sfw, no alt accounts, no large sigs, use coloured text sparingly, no illegal shit, and your behaviour on here is subject to staff discretion.

The last part is important, because the rules can't cover every aspect of human behaviour. You are expected to exercise your own judgement in what is right or wrong. The warning system is meant to give you the opportunity to stop doing something that would get you in trouble.

This thread is pretty old now and so the system probably isn't adhered to quite so strictly (especially considering we've had two migrations since then), but since you asked for a specific thread, here's one that gives some guidelines on what can get you banned:
