Because god knows we need more twelve year olds on the forums

But anyway I've been thinking about this, and I've been wondering if it's possible to add such a thing to the login process - something involving a simple sentence with places to fill in the blanks, preferably involving the three "theres" (there, they're, their). It would be SO GREAT not to have to deal with people using English wrong, and even if they look up the answer they'll still learn the difference between the three terms a little.

Good idea, because I don't like 'they're' immaturity. Seriously, that would help with 12's and spammers. Let's hope it's possible.

I'm not too annoying to you guys, am I?

Cause I think we all know the fact that I am twelve.

Not the thread for this
But the twelve year old term in this case relates to anyone who is under the maturity level of a 13-year old, it doesn't represent all twelve year olds and it isn't limited specifically to twelve year olds
To be honest you have shown some twelve behaviour from what I've seen though

I see one problem with this. Some people who join aren't native English speakers, but are plenty mature to join. Their sentences might only be slightly better than 12 y/o's, but they might have many worthwhile things to contribute.

I didn't know that but that's why we'll have this test. No matter what age you are, if you can pass this test, then you're partially mature enough.

I like the idea, but Tpcool has a point.

There are non-native speakers who can add much good
content to the board, but couldn't pass the test.

What about a logic test? That would work better.

But that goes back to what MagicDoors said about looking it up. They'll still learn the difference between the terms and be able to join. Also, by login process, do you mean we have to do this every time we log in?

better idea: add an RNG to the posting process
25% of posts get rejected automatically
this should improve the general quality of the forums by at least 25%

Spelling isn't a good indicator of critical thought. Short of making the captcha an essay question, all we can do is ask questions that middle school education should have covered, like basic algebra. Implementing this feature could turn into elitism very quickly, so please don't make it too exclusive. We want to filter out children and idiots, not just those less educated than we are.

I support this greatly. When someone makes a new account it needs to be something advanced... though there is google... damn you, google.

Well, if you had to google up something just to answer a question for a forum that you may/may not use entirely, I think it'd be a waste of time. However, we could use it to our advantage. I positive that all of us have gotten or at least know about the Nikumaru Counter/290 Counter/Other Language translation of it. Maybe a simple, yet unique question. (Like "What requirements are there in order to pick up the Nikumaru Counter/290 Counter/etc.?) I think it'd have to look for specific terms though, like "saving/skipping booster v0.8, rescuing and draining Curly".
Final Answer: I don't think it's necessary, but I wouldn't mind it either. I think if we did go with it, the admins should all agree one 1 question and then maybe try a small test run with a part of the forums to see how hard the question is and if it needs to be changed/not implemented.
