I like doublepixeled sprites as well, but when the text and other certain parts of a game are at your monitor's resolution instead of the game's resolution it messes with the mind.

the difference is that you have a decent window size, but the text keeps the same resolytion as the graphics, so it doesn't look sub-pixeled.

Well as far as I know cave story already has editors for the "wimpy point and click" stuff, and reinventing those would be a waste of time. Also from the screenshot it doesn't look too hard to figure out. it COULD be simplified but not without imposing restrictions on what you can do with it.
