    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Ah I didn't beat boots to his screen shot.:) New fixes up. Fixed the script editor bug and Add Map bug (I need to look at this code a little better still). Also, I did a quick fix to the color depth error. I still need to find a way to automatically detect this but for now you can set it...

Finally! Thanks DragonBoots! I believe that with some tests I should have a solution by the weekend!

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Ok that's makes even less sense to me since both CE and the DisplayTest App use the exact same classes for opening and displaying the images as CE does. I've uploaded a special version of CE (with error log) to the first post that may resolve the issue and if not it should at least tell us...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

hmmm. I got the exact same results on a computer that did display the images... I'm guessing that ProcessActivityView has some issues. It was telling me just about every file was opened but not read and that some files I know it opened weren't ever opened (*.pxm files). I'll keep looking...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

I put that up but didn't get any responses though its gotten 2 dozen views. Has anyone actually having problems with the graphics tried running it?

*goes someplace else until people stop staring* Come on Gardebiter, it's time for a Sue's Workshop update!

GASP! You don't know who I am? It's true that I don't post too often and I tend to lurk more than anything else but I did create CaveEditor. Plus I like randomly visiting people's profiles when reading their posts. Nothing strange about that... <.< >.>

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Thanks Lowell. :D I just recently started working on a mod myself and its really help me to see where the shortcomings of the editor are. I must say that it really was a pain hand typing all those entity numbers from memory. I wish I could say what's going to be in version 1.0 but I'm just...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Ok, some more bug fixes and code clean up. Check out the first post in this thread to see the details. Three things of note: 1. The game settings now has an option to change whether or not CE tries to change the read only attribute on files. Hopefully this will fix issues with Vista. 2...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

@Fist That version is very old. Check this first post for the latest version. @ Fire I have XP and don't have access to Vista. My only suggestion is to get the file Cave Story folder to NOT read only to see if that helps. If not, it could be a case that the method I use to change the .tsc...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Ok I've just gone and re-downloaded and re-patched the game with the Aeon Genesis english patch. I also downloaded my own link to the CE zip file and tested both of these problems you two are having. The both work correctly. The one thing I had to do to get the map resize to save is remove...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

What? *checks to see if maps and be resized to be smaller* um... It seems to work just fine. What's the old size and new size you're changing it to?

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Oops, looks like a swapped the X and Y values around for the start location... I've uploaded a fixed zip file.

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

@Fire Is the script you're trying to open a modified one? Did it open fine before? Are other scripts opening fine? If its not the original, can you send me a copy to test? I can't really tell what the problem is from your post.

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

OK update time. I found the title screen map and event offsets so you can now change the title screen map and events if you so chose. Also, I noticed CE didn't have the ability to adjust the start location or map for the game either so I've added that. Also, I think I figured out why the map...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Well I stand corrected. I guess I should be updating that number on map additions then. Apparently I've missed a lot in my year and a half hiatus from the modding forums. Lace, I bow to your Cave Story skills. You are far more knowledgeable about the inner workings of Cave Story than I...

    What's on Quote's hat?

or maybe even in Kanji... 巻中括弧 That should be "Curly Brace" with the correct forms I'm guessing.

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Nope sorry there's no silver bullet for setting the total map number. This might help explain what Cave Story does when loading a map: Say you you want to load map X (Quote just walked through a door) Cave Story will load the map info data from inside the exe at position X like it would any...

    Cave Editor Display Problem

With all the problems some people are having with getting CE to display correctly, I have made a little test program to hopefully help me solve the problem. Link If every works fine you should end up with a window like this: Basically what it does is displays an image in one of the 3 methods...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

As soon as the sprite hit and display boxes appear in the map editor. :D I guess I could have upped it to v0.96 with the addition of hot keys... I just don't want to hit v1.0 before it does everything I plan on making it do.

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

With all the graphic problems some people are having with CE I've gone ahead and, with a little prodding from Boots, uploaded the CE script editor as a standalone program (first post). That way those who do not like the editor or those that can't get the editor to work can still use the script...

    CaveEditor again (beta, maybe alpha)

Ok minor update (first post). Hotkeys have been added to the map editor window. Insert - Add entity Delete - Delete entity Ctrl+C - Copy entity Ctrl+V - Paste entity etc. The menus say whether or not a hotkey exists. Updated source has been updated too.

The relationship between Quote and Curly

I always thought of their bond as a immutable understanding of each other. Sort of like a brother in arms kinda thing but also something more. As they are the only two of their kind (the blue robots don't count). I think they have greater empathy for one another. It sort of reminds me a bit...
