Hrm... best I can advise is to either re-start or re-download. Don't fret too much about losing progress, there's a loooot after that first part :) Just in case, the "correct" exit is the one to the right of the area (probably not an issue, but it was once before, believe it or not).

The only save file that Cave Story will read is Profile.dat. You'll need to rename whatever you download as Profile in order for CS to load it. It's a good idea to keep a copy of your old save too.

Lowell: Not sure what to say. Sounds kind of beepy-boopy, and sort of like it's trying to be happy and dull at the same time. Has some nice panning and fading effects but not so much substance. Also Wedge is an inglourious basterd.
