Since the cave is pretty damp (water dripping everywhere) one might assume there are some sort of mushrooms, or atleast fungi growing there. That or he eats the critters and bear grylls his way back to his cave-house.

Same here man. I guess it's hard to decide where to put the savepoints when you're making a mod, all the spikes and challanges seem so obvious if you've created them yourself.
