You can use the mimiga mask sprites for one extra set of sprites. If you want more, put the infinite mimiga mask hack in your mod.

You can also always open the image in your browser without having to download it and look at the page title, which should, in this case, just easily say 2560×1440.

Are you trying to run cave story in fullscreen? Selecting either full 64-bit or full-32 should fix that. Else, try messing with compatibility settings and see if that helps.
