Start Point is a part of the First Cave, which is simply lighted in its entirety. There's an old bar at the Sand Zone's top an a teleporter underneath. And a robot as big as Omega needs maintenance. I'm sure you need at least some light for night-vision to work. Creatures that live in total...

Waterway: There's a house there. Therefore someone had to live there. Therefore he had to walk around as well. Therefore he had to see out there. Therefore there has to be a light.

First, I don't recall any instance of the Island being called such, and second, even if it was called Mimiga Island, it could be so because it's an island inhabited mainly by Mimigas.
