You're quite right that Curly's very hard with 3 HP, but you can take one hit from a Mimiga without dying (as they only do 2), which helps massively. All of Monster X's shots do 3 damage, and the hearts don't help you if you're dead. And Monster X can put out a highly impressive volume of fire...

She is. Couple of theories: 1) It's just that she's using a "NPC human" model instead of an "enemy" model. Or something. 2) Her curse made her look small for some reason. 3) Getting puffed up by the Doctor didn't entirely wear off.

There's no actual difference between playing Hard Mode and simply not picking up the life capsules. I've done a 3 HP run, and I don't even own a Wii. And Monster X is NOT easy with 3 HP (easier than the Core, though, of course, especially without missiles). Methinks you haven't actually done it.

Depends. The level 3 Blade kills an awful lot of the shots MX fires. It's also far superior if attempting to kill it without damage, because you can fire one shot and then run. Also, what better places? It's not like there's a black wind at the start of the Labyrinth.

In fact, it is possible (though difficult) to destroy the Undead Core before it even finishes its initial move forward. I just tested it. (Use Super Missiles on Misery to put her down in seconds, forcing the Undead Core to open prematurely, then Spur it to death.)
