No. You can activate the rocket without talking to her and hence with the Mask instead of the Booster. Makes the Undead Core quite a bit trickier, because you have to stand on the minicores instead of being able to boost up from the floor.

This is more of a "feature". After all, you can use that recoil quite effectively.
