Did you edit the game with a ResourceHacker? It edits the exe and may corrupt it.

I doubled the sprite's ID, for example, blue bat, ID is 65 according to Npc.ini, so 65 X 2, then I converted it to Hex, and then added 2D2 (Npc hp) to it, thats how I get it. Better explaination in thread you posted which I learnt from
