Assembly isn't like lego bricks, which is unfortunate. But your idea will still work. You can run a conditional check to see if mimiga mask is equipped and make the weapons act/look differently based on that condition. That'd be much easier than adding new weapons.

I have widescreen and that doesn't happen. Cave Story just fills the whole screen.

This is a great game; I'd recommend it to anyone. You play as a girl who can explore an entire abstract landscape in her dreams. Very unique, quite puzzling, and certainly takes a bit of thinking to get around to the rarely seen parts.

Try playing in windowed mode, and turn off gamma/special effects in the Options section of the main menu. That's probably the most you can do to stop lag.

Replacing the exe is probably a bad idea, since you'll have to rename your maps again. Usually, it's much easier to debug stuff if you just put in the code chunk by chunk instead of testing the whole thing all at once. If that doesn't work, try posting your mod so that people can see what's wrong.

Oh, so you mean linking the file was difficult to figure out, but calling code from the DLL or whatever to make Pxtone work was pretty easy, right? What about a blank template DLL so you can just insert whatever code you want? Wouldn't that be useful?

A minor thing.. If you click on the General Forums link on the top of the main page, then the skin reverts to the default Miraigamer skin. The URL seems to have "forumdisplay.php?f=1" appended to it. This happens in CS Light/Dark too.
