I guess it's time to make a thread about literally everything inside the game

everything is pretty much talked about yes, but also the medium of forums as a whole are losing popularity as a way to discuss things on the internet. the cave story discord for example is still fairly active (i think?)

I'm telling you, people are gonna find a way to be nostalgic about forums again. I think with good visual iconography it'd draw in the same kind of attention indie games like the kind pixel makes would normally get.

I still stand that this forum could see some sort of life again if we went back to our roots as a general gaming forum. The scope was just way more limited back then, given these were the main categories:
  • Cave Story
  • Koudelka
  • Rosenkreuzstilette
  • Xak
  • Ys
  • Legend of Zelda

Not to say we should go mainstream either, cuz who knows how many Mario forums exist out there, but it's an idea.

The current trend is to move away from forums and towards Reddit and Discord. Nothing we do is ever going to reverse that trend. By modern standards this place can be considered active for a forum. Also, yes, everything we can talk about has been talked about to death.

Forums like PokéCommunity have sheer momentum of a 1 game per year mega franchise to keep discussion alive for the small percentage of the planet still using forums. We don't have that, and our slice of the "still using forums" pie is much, much smaller.

I mean most brands this late in their life cycle without a proper revival end up kindof Dying from their own irrelevance. That's not to say a forum can't necessarily migrate from brand to brand (This one is nutorious for doing exactly that, which isn't necessarily a bad thing imo, communities just move over time, especially ones like this that are less inclined to exist on the surface web over time)
Pokémon is kindof falling under its own weight, it's had a lot of its value worsened just by the outgrowths such an expansive brand would inevitably spawn when handled in the nature it was handled.
This place is gaining a bit of a reputation of its own seperate from Cave Story, it has a lot of valuable history that's fun to delve through if you're lacking inspiration.

There's plenty of growing brands out there, or brands whose communities overlap more in demographic (stats nerds, people with jobs, autists, queers, etc) but this is banking on the increasingly nebulous figures in the industry that are acting as the faces for "Indie" projects, let alone the smaller teams that ended up cashing out on expensive houses because they made Geurella Warfare into something profitable.
The next generation of developers is already being setup with blackmail and misinformation as the foundation so it's just fair to assume that the entire kitchen sink is expected to be thrown out at some point no matter what after whichever head of the hydra happens to fall next.

NEETs and surface-web-dwellers-that-hate-mainstream-social-media still exist everywhere on the web they just dgaf about Cave Story specifically. You'd probably have an easier time making a forum for the Weird :tm: stuff at that rate.
