Why the hell would Elon thought that was a good idea?

because he's a moron who believes every decision he ever makes on that platform is a good idea, along with the fact that he doesn't know how to run an actual website
he probably thought that that would curb the amount of false traffic and bots or whatever, which is just. wrong if you look at the amount of crypto scam bots that bootlick their precious emerald mine owner on the site nowadays

its fucking elon he's always making dumb decisions (see: the recent removal of public likes on a profile just because elon was caught in 4k one too many times)

I just don't use social media altogether nowadays. Only website I really have an account at this point is, well, Youtube. But damn, I dodged a morbidly obese bullet when I deleted my twitter account long before Elon took over.

i use tumblr a lot, and by golly it's way better than twitter ever could be
