A leap year is a year that is divisible by 4, excluding years divisible by 100 that are not also divisible by 400. So 2000 was a leap year (divisible by 400), and 2016 was also a leap year (divisible by 4, but not 100), but 1900 was not a leap year (divisible by 100, but not 400), and neither is 2018 (not divisible by 4).
