He can't play football well, that's true. But why everyone is calling him to play then? Just to tell him later that he sucks?

What's the reason for him being insulted, if you don't mind me asking? Just because he's not good at football?

Yes. Because he doesn't catch the ball, etc. (he was a goalkeeper). And everyone then laughed when they made him cry (he's still a kid! Not even 12 years old! I am not surprised of his behaviour, he's very nervous etc.). Holy shtick I just feel I have to protect this kid.
