I think the dumbest thing I did on my first playthrough was step on the first spike i saw because i thought it was something i could pick up. Most spikes i've seen in games look somewhat different from the cave story ones heh.

It took me 5 trys or so to get onto the first block, but I'm now saved at the door to the last cave, with the spur and booster 0.8 in hand.

ahh i couldnt remember if the booster 0.8 had enough thrust to actually get you there or not. I havent played in a year or so, and wanted to go for normal ending with the spur in hand if possible. I would hate to grab the 0.8 only to find out i suddenly cant get what i was aiming for.

nah i don't want to cheat my way through things. I just wish there was an extra save point is all. But seems how there isn't i'll just have to keep trying :awesomeface:

downloaded this a few days ago. Its been interesting so far. Right now i find myself stuck in the mine level. So far out of about 20+ attempts i only made it to monster X once and died fighting him. I'd be tempted to edit in a save point just before you fight him, but i'm too lazy to figure...
