Okay, so I have an SNES to USB adapter. It works just fine connects, the buttons react, the works. BUT I am unable to map to the start and select buttons which forces me to put two functions on the same button. As far as I could tell the mapping worked out like this:
1 = X
2 = A
3 = B
4 = Y
5 = A
6 = B
7 = L
8 = R

Yeah, 2 A's and 2 B's. WTF? Is there anyway to fix this?

Why get an adapter when you could buy a good pc game controller for cheap? Do you prefer the SNES controller over the others?

Why pay money when I can just borrow it from my brother who never uses it for no cost?

How much did the adapter cost, and how much effort was it to find one? :D

Quite a bit (on both accounts), I'm sure due to it being bought on Lik-Sang (which is now closed.)

Yeah I know about Lik-Sang being closed. Remind me how this was cheaper again?
Mine is recognised by the computer as a joystick, is it the same with yours or do you have to assign keys to buttons with software that came with it?

First, it DOES recognize it as a controller. And SECOND, I'm BORROWING it (meaning I didn't pay for it, my brother did) so I could use it with my SNES emulator. I don't feel like going out and buying a new one just for one game (I'm not a PC gamer). Clear as mud?

I think that all you needed to do was plug in the controller and play cave story with the default settings since you can play with a controller without having to change any settings, I don't know if this is different, but it shouldn't be.
