Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Power magazine is finished. It's one of the longest running magazines, originating in 1988. The final issue will be in December of this year. I'm actually subscribed to it currently, so if anything noteworthy happens during its final months I'll be sure to give this thread a bump.

I have to wonder what's going on with Nintendo when they started mass-cancelling everything that is awesome. It's like they're trying to self-destruct.

I have the first issue still, I'll have to make sure to get the last from someone. I don't have enough room for everything in between.

Damn. That was a good magazine. I didn't have that many issues but I enjoyed reading.
Honestly I didn't like the new FutureUS crew, I thought the old one was better.

I think they are slowly starting to lose their grip on the industry too bad the magazine is going under, I enjoyed all the edition I bought.

So I was finally able to get the last issue, and surprisingly there is something I want to mention. They included a 'Top 285' games list (on Nintendo consoles, of course) and Cave Story made it to #117. It was the Wiiware port, not the 3DS port, huh. It's behind Castlevania II Simon's Quest (#116). Ehhh...

That's probably because it was the Wiiware port. The Wiiware port was really, really glitchy. People who've only played the Wiiware version of Cave Story don't know what they're missing out on. The near perfection of the original Cave Story has been diminished in every single NICALiS port (even Cave Story+), especially the Wiiware port. So it's quite understandable that it would go lower on the list.

ALL the ports? Dang between this and the la-mulana thing, Nicalis is really screwing up.

Well im assuming your talking about cave story (all the ports they did :sue:)
but with the creator of la-mulana they kind of pushed him to do a lot.
Of course within the context of the situation, yes they milked made money.
By the way, you can make something famous and still screw up.
