^ This was the original concept. Unfortunately it sorta broke when I tried to make it work for all the fuckhuge areas in cavestory so it only really works in the first room.

 

Why not if there's a different story [kinda like children's night story] it could be a decent mod. Just the art stile will resembles Yoshi's Island.

 

That artstyle alone sells the game for me.

 

I have no idea whether to find this horrid or beautiful.

I'll be completely honest here: I legitimately enjoyed this mod. The intentionally simple and sloppy art style actually gave the game a new and pleasant experience. It's like watching a 7-year-old's drawing come to life. My only real complaint would have to be that the yes/no option doesn't visually pop up, so you can't see what option you're selecting. That, and maybe you could make the walking animation a little more pronounced, perhaps by moving the arms too, and the legs a little more.

Other than that, keep up the great work, I look forward to future releases.

I was looking forward to a rly gud king sprite but it wasn't gud 0/10 will never play again

 

Only the first cave? What a rip Actually I was only going to check the spritesheets but then when I saw how little was changed I played it anyway.

 

New version out, finished modifying textbox.pbm; gonna start on other maps after this.
